The Antigua Charter Yacht Show 2012 delivered a true “WOW” factor. The event attracted luxury charter yachts ranging from 50 feet to over 200 feet. These impressive vessels filled the docks at Nelson’s Dockyard, Falmouth Harbour, and the Antigua Yacht Club.
Every yacht looked stunning, with gleaming hulls and luxurious interiors. However, a few yachts and crews truly stood out. Whether through exceptional attention to detail on board or a bold and unforgettable Yacht Hop, some experiences stayed firmly in mind long after the show ended.
One yacht I still remember is the award-winning 168-foot motor yacht Lazy Z. It was not the elegant staterooms, private cinema, fully equipped gym, or jacuzzi that caught my attention. Instead, it was the unforgettable sight of the “boys in pink” walking the docks at the Antigua Yacht Club. Two crew members proudly wore full-body pink unitards to promote cancer awareness.
Lazy Z hosted a themed Yacht Hop evening called Pink for Cancer Awareness. The event raised over $2,000 for charity and earned the yacht first place in that night’s Yacht Hop competition. The crew embraced the theme with enthusiasm, even donning pink tutus. In addition, the onboard chef impressed the judges by winning first place in the Caribbean Bean Coffee Roasters – Best Use of the Coffee Bean category and third place in the Healthy Dinner Challenge.
Beyond awards and themes, Lazy Z boasts a fun and energetic crew. The yacht comes fully loaded with water sports equipment and toys, ready for winter charters in the Caribbean. It even claims to have introduced the first inflatable water slide available on a charter yacht.
Caribbean charter rates start at $239,000 per week, plus expenses.
